There is nothing more worrying in ministry today, than those that “wanna be what they wanna be” and only listen to “what they wanna hear”. They are “would-be prophets & Apostles” attempting to prophesy what has already been prophesied by major prophets and/or longstanding credible Ministers.

Often they have very limited credibility and very few of the ‘words’ that they “prophesy”, are ‘prophesied’ or confirmed before Words are made public by major prophets and Apostles in longstanding ministries. A Prophet’s Words are always tested for authenticity before they can be called “Prophet”.

This is not to say that, down the line, people who are less experienced are not called to the Fivefold or are to be ‘promoted’ to another Office, but it’s all about the right timing, and the right Office! But there are no instants.

Most seasoned Fivefold Ministers can discern the difference.

But this kind of ‘claiming’ a word that really doesn’t come from them, can lead to a counterfeit spirit even if intentions are good. It can even lead some to delusions of grandeur, where it is actually believed that the ‘prophecy’ came from their mouth first. I’ve seen this with my own eyes. When people refuse to acknowledge a source, because they are insecure and want the credit, this is a very unhealthy situation.

article-i-wanna-be3Apostles and Prophets are referred to in Scripture in Eph 2:20 as “the foundation” of the Church, with Jesus being the Chief Cornerstone. Therefore, if we are indeed called apostles or prophets, we must surely be those, that establish a strong healthy foundation if this is the case!

Apostles and Prophets are supposed to be ‘pillars’ of integrity, of credibility, that is not only from the pulpit but in our personal lives, our households. This should be a consistency that runs through all the Offices in the Church, but especially these foundational Offices.

In other words, yes, prophesy, but don’t go outside of the realm of the authority you carry in the spirit, no matter what you “wanna be” when you ‘grow up’ into the maturity you need to have for such, and provided you are firstly called into such a team or Office.

If you are not an ordained recognized Prophet or Apostle, or not recognized as a prophetic ministry or part of a prophetic team, don’t start prophesying over nations and territories unless you’re called to do that or have discussed things that are outside of your spiritual authority, with your Lead Prophet, Apostle, or head of your prophetic team.(Even as ordained Prophets or Apostles we have to be careful what we prophesy over people in another minister’s House!)

(Even as ordained Prophets or Apostles we have to be careful what we prophesy over people in another minister’s House!)

There are boundaries on every level, even in the spirit realm and different levels of spiritual authority that God has ordained for different Offices and gifting. We must understand our boundaries, these bring the House of God into proper order. Let Holy Spirit loose, but don’t lose yourself and where you are placed in the process.

article-i-wanna-be1God will recognise callings and giftings at the right time. God always has a divine order of things. We never have to ‘push the envelope’ to be ‘seen’ or recognised. That in itself signals a red flag. If this is you, get godly counsel from whoever oversees you. If you’re accountable to no one that could be part of the problem. On a side note; remember accountability isn’t a clinical function, it’s relational. It’s about building trust relationships and growing. People bandy this word ‘accountability’ around so much of late, but sometimes talk is cheap, accountability means relationship, communication on a regular basis to whomever you are accountable.

People bandy this word ‘accountability’ around so much of late, but sometimes talk is cheap, accountability means relationship, communication on a regular basis to whomever you are accountable.

Building the Kingdom together does not take place on the pulpit or at conferences alone, it is mostly in our accountability behind the scenes. Let me leave it there. I have much to teach on this topic of accountability.

Back to topic: Sometimes people could have already convinced themselves and don’t want to wait on God’s timing, (which I believe is a spirit of fear operating), and they will draw unhealthy soul ties with others in ministry, just to get confirmation, if they don’t get what “they want”, perhaps from their own overseers or covering. This is how many churches in the history of the global church have split. This kind of behaviour is never about Kingdom, it’s always about what the flesh wants.

Friends, it’s often and sadly so, an ego issue which has deeper roots, that needs to be sorted out. No good reputable leader would want to withhold promotion from anyone they are mentoring or parenting. Just the opposite. In fact, most leaders I know, are always looking for the season and time to promote those they can see are being raised up by God. (“good reputation” is one of the characteristics of a good leader described in 1 Tim 3).

article-i-wanna-be2The “I want it, and I want it now” mentality, is a road that leads to nowhere. We have too many people who only want to be ‘chiefs’ but don’t want learn, grow, be accountable, or wait on God’s timing. And by “people”, I’m referring to people in ministry.

Overseers, those that have journeyed intimately with you and mentored you according to the Word, will always be looking to confirm your promotion.

Sometimes, we are so eager as leaders or overseers, to release people into their next level because we recognise the gift/Office they are called to, perhaps even before the person sees it themselves! But if they’re not ready for it, it can be very pressurising to push something that is not in God’s set time. In fact, it can be disastrous.

I’ve seen good people of God, destroy their ministries because they’ve gone after titles before walking out some of the roads of their calling. Any Office comes with a cost. We should always consider what that cost is before leaping into something, out of God’s timing, and worse, that may not be what you are called to do.

Let’s be clear: titles come after we’ve walked some of that road, and when been proved faithful in the little things, as Scripture teaches and then for this to be shown by our actions, how we live our lives and the level of maturity that we have; these are some of the things the Word gives us as guidelines to prepare us to be ready to move to the next level!

article-i-wanna-be4There are numerous people in the Body of Christ today, particularly in certain of our affirming churches, some who aren’t in a church or network or who don’t have a covering, or who say they’re in accountability relationships when actually they are not, who have already decided what Office they are in.

Some that have no covering have even called themselves by such an Office! This is not only irresponsible but unbiblical and people that do this, usually have little or no real understanding of the weight that comes with an Office?

We cannot desire the title, without doing what it takes to get the credibility. (I’m not talking about those that are in transition. But a sidebar: Remember you can’t stay in transition forever. Get under cover!)

The gifts are free and are for all, but Offices are ‘earned’ over time, with a predestined calling.

There is an order in the Kingdom, for good reason. We must be careful to get clear confirmation as to what Office we believe we are called, because the higher we go in the spirit realm, the lower we must be prepared to go in the earth realm. There is more required of us, the higher we go.

Servants, always understand what healthy submission is to the LORD, and those God has put in place are there to help you prosper, to help you with a seasoned objectivity. They have discernment and are brought alongside you so that you can build with enough credibility.

If that word, submission, has already made you cringe, you’re in need of loving counsel. (Sad that one needs to put the word ‘loving’ in front of it, that should be a given.)

This is the “I want” group. Not prepared to wait, always trying to prove themselves. STOP, wait & listen!

Learn and watch those on whose shoulders you sit, without having had to walk the whole journey, and then as you humble yourself GOD will lift you up at the right time, and everyone will know! For now, be who you are called to be right now, and stay where you are meant to be at this point in time. Allow yourself to flourish, right where you are being used by God at this point in time.

Here is a hint: If you are not teachable at this point and not willing to grow and learn from those that have walked before you, you are certainly not ready for the next level of promotion.

Never be a “wanna be” in the Kingdom…

It will eat you up and spit you out! You will become a striver, not a driver!

The only “wanna be”, should be, “I wanna be in God’s presence”.
Seek after God, not the title.

Don’t try to wear ‘shoes’ that you haven’t grown into yet. You’ll walk ‘funny’ and never be able to be as mobile as ones that fit you now. David couldn’t wear Saul’s armour because it kept him immobile it was too big for him, it didn’t fit him. It wasn’t made for him.

article-i-wanna-be5His ‘mantle’ & weapon was his slingshot! That’s what slays the giant, knowing who we are right now, in our ‘now’ calling, not what I wanna be. Nothing wrong with vision, and dreams; they must be there, but don’t run before you are ready to walk the road!

Move in what God has called you to for now, and in the right season you will be raised up according to the mantle that is confirmed, first by Holy Spirit, then human beings; first from your own Tribe (Covering), then everyone else will recognise!

This is why I am very careful who I ordain, and who I bring under our DGAN Network. That cover carries with it credibility that has been earned over years.

Be slow to want promotion and quick to want to serve, not with lip service, consistently letting that be seen in your daily walk, always.

Those of us in the Fivefold must be watchful for this stuff we are to be good stewards of Kingdom which is not limited to only what we are called to do but to be those keeping watch. For when people come in like this, like a whirlwind and mess things up, it becomes all the more difficult for those Ministers in stable ministries, to get people back, that have been wounded by those that do this stuff! They no longer trust even credible ministers!

God always has a set time for promotion. Don’t push what you’re not yet ready for!

(I might have waited far too long to post this word…)
