Now the One who supplies seed to the sower, will also supply & INCREASE your store of seed & will ENLARGE the harvest of your righteousness. You will be ENRICHED in EVERY way so that you can be GENEROUS on every occasion, which pleases the LORD. (2 Cor. 9:10-11)

God brings increas to us & enriches us in every way (not just financially), so that we can be consistently generous.

To be consistently generous, giving must form a part of our very nature, not just something we do from time to time to feel better about ourselves as an emotional response.
If we are emotional givers it might happen that we sow our seed into the wrong soil/ground.

Giving in the Kingdom is not always about need, but about obedience in understanding faith on a deeper level. In other words, we don’t give simply because there is a need, there will always be ‘a need’. We give because it’s the right thing to do, to sow into the right soil at the right time as God leads us.

We are driven by our spirit being not our emotions. Compassion is part of it for sure, but we are steered in our giving both financially and of our time as the Spirit leads us not our emotions.

There is nothing more freeing than experiencing the freedom of giving.
The Word says, “freely we have received, so freely we should give.” (Matt.10:8).

When we give God’s way, there must not be pre-requisites or conditions to our giving.
We must give freely whatever God is calling us to give. When I give over and above my monthly giving, it might be a large amount or a smaller amount as an offering. It’s about giving according to what God has put on our heart.

We don’t simply stop giving at the point of our monthly giving, making it the reason to exclude ourselves from giving more. It’s wonderful that we are giving and if we are giving what God has called us to give that’s great, God loves a cheerful giver.

But we must be honest with ourselves about our giving and search our hearts to find out if we are giving what God has put in our heart to give or are we simply justifying why we can’t give more.

If God says sow, then sow! God has you!
Otherwise, we deprive ourselves of the blessing and our giving can become a religious thing.

Sometimes, if a person’s been a regular monthly giver in church for some time, they might ‘almost’ want to close their ears off to hearing when the offering word comes up in service, because they could be convincing themselves as to how much they already give instead of asking how much the LORD is calling them to give.

This is where people can go wrong, as this is conditional giving because once a person has already made the decision that God has nothing else to say to them about giving, the door is closed.

We must always be open to hearing what God is saying to us afresh about our giving. We can miss our own blessing when we close ourselves off to hearing further from God on this issue, especially if we are already giving!

I recall at the most difficult time financially for M and I years ago, God spoke to me and told me to increase my monthly giving to 15% of my gross income. I was convinced I hadn’t heard that right, I was sure God wouldn’t instruct me to give even more during these times, as the LORD knew our circumstances.

But I quickly realised God was teaching me how to FREELY give!
Aside from any other giving we were sowing, It wasn’t long before I was giving 20% then even 30%! Could I afford it on my “Pastor’s salary” compared to the huge salary I used to get in the secular work place? I realised that I couldn’t afford NOT TO GIVE!

When we understand how important it is to entrust not just our giving but our freely giving to GOD we will have a better grasp of what it means to have real faith.

The point being, no matter how much God is speaking to your heart to sow, if you hear and obey and give what God is speaking to you to give, you will sow into fertile soil and you WILL prosper in ALL your ways!

It was the most amazingly freeing experience to see how God came through for us time and time again after that and still does.

In Acts 20:35 Jesus is quoted as saying this: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
It surely is more of a blessing to GIVE than to RECEIVE!

For our seed to increase, we must sow into fertile soil. Fertile soil is the place that Holy Spirit is unctioning is to sow into.
Therefore, it’s very important to seek the LORD and to ask the LORD where GOD wants us to sow, including our offering, and that will be the ground of multiplication.

The word continues to say (2 Cor.9:11) that ultimately, all our giving results in thanksgiving to GOD.

“What is GOD saying to you today about your giving? Give freely and watch and see how God honours a giving heart!” – Apostle Deborah Bell

If you have a church family please consider praying about what God is calling to sow into your spiritual house, even if you are a monthly giver, ask the LORD about what you are to sow NOW! When we are truly honest with ourselves about our giving it will start an amazing process of release and blessing in our lives.
Our sowing financially or otherwise can never equate to what God has freely given us.

If you have a spiritual House you attend and God is speaking to you to give, hear and give to your church. This is between you and God.
