Scripture doesn’t say, ‘you will know them by their anointing’! It says, ‘you will know them by their fruit’.
While we are living in the supernatural realm of God’s grace and glory every day, we must remember as believers that we cannot ‘survive’ on the ‘euphoria’ of the anointing alone. We must be those that ‘grow up in all things’.
What do I mean?
It’s easy to get lost in the realm of the Spirit. It’s just so beautiful to be there. We encourage it! We want you to be hungry for God’s touch on your life.
But only wanting to live in the spiritual dimension without paying attention to the things in our life that need to change, is a form of denial.
The Word of God speaks about our lives bearing fruit. Fruit-bearing also comes through Holy Spirit and listening carefully to the voice of God, not just under the anointing where the gifts are being manifest, but also in the times of pruning.
Our development as Christians and our growth come from cutting off branches that are contaminating our lives. These are the dead branches that bear no fruit.
A sign of spiritual and emotional maturity is when both the anointing and the fruit of the Spirit manifest in our life. Both are from Holy Spirit and they both come from the spiritual dimension. Both need to manifest, not just the anointing.
Good fruit comes out of good character which is birthed from Holy Spirit, as we are being transformed or changed from glory to glory. (2 Cor. 3:18)
Remember, the gifts of Holy Spirit are for the use and benefit of others, and if they’re only being used to edify self we’ve missed the point.
The anointing is for multiplication. It’s for sharing and for giving out to others.
But fruit is something that comes from our surrendering and yielding ourselves honestly before God in the throne room. Good fruit will manifest when we lay ourselves bare. It will always show in our behaviour and in our priorities.
Matt. 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
When we close ourselves off by selectively listening and selectively hearing, and only want to ‘absorb’ and soak in the anointing, not open to hearing anything about our lives that we need to change, because it is ‘negative’ or for whatever reason we are believing it is so, then we are unhealed and deprive ourselves of growth, and we leave open doors in the area of the soul for the enemy to blind us.
Make NO room for him!
But allow every area of your life to be accessible to God, so that God can mould you, shape you and change you into Christlikeness. Col 1:6 says the gospel bears fruit!
Matt. 7:17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit…
(20) Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Matt. 21:43 Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
John 15:2 The LORD cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
Joh 15:8 This is to my Heavenly Parent God’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
Joh 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit. Fruit that will last. Then the Heavenly Parent, God, will give you whatever you ask in my name.
