devotional-zaiWe don’t realize the trauma of fear until its too late.

It is something that paralyzes us from the neck down emotionally and spiritually, because it starts in the mind of a believer. It controls, manipulates and eats away at our future and destiny.

Fear encapsulates and slowly destroys the very thing that makes us want to be alive – our sense of purpose and desire. A desire that God planted when you were born.

Ever wonder how or why some days go by so much slower than others? These are usually the days that you are fearful and anxious about something that is about to happen, or has happened, and you’re afraid of the outcome.

We need to take ownership of our minds, and surrender our fears to God.

The significant problems that we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them. – Albert Einstein.

This means that if you do not surrender your mind completely, and instead try to work on the problems with the same thinking that created them, you will probably find yourself in a cycle of disappointments.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NIV)

A sound mind means that we should have peace even through the chaos. Trust in the One who created you to rise above all circumstances, and have unquestionable faith that Jesus, who is the lifter of our heads, will take us through difficult situations.

I’ve allowed fear to creep into my life and take over many times. It can start with a small seed that the enemy plants in your mind, and slowly the anxiety and doubts began to cloud your thoughts and takes over. It is so distracting, and all you see is the pain. “Enough!” I say to this pain and fear that isn’t of God.

The spirit of fear comes from the enemy to put brakes over your life, and the purpose that you were born into. God’s chosen are meant to be a light during the darkness. Recognise and surrender those things that hold you back. Don’t let the enemy keep you from the promises of God.

Let go, and let God. Replace those fearful thoughts with God’s word and intimacy.

Be filled with the things of the spirit so that you live a life of peace and love. A month ago I struggled with deep anxiety so badly that it caused pain within my physical body. Stress took over in so many ways that I became blinded to the light. Jesus is the only light.

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (John 8:12 NIV)

Your life is precious to the Lord, and sometimes not every person in your life will make you feel special, but the love of God is forever.
